Romain was born in the city of Marseille.  He comes from a traditional french family background, his early years were spent in the heat of Provence in a small town near Cassis where old fashion cuisine quickly became inspirational through both his grandmothers. Hunting, fishing and foraging were common practices and the making of game terrine, preserves and jams a very cool affair.

“in late summer, we used to smash apricot stones to get the peep that would naturally thicken the jam with pectine” and “while my grandfather hunted wild boar and hare, I was shooting birds at the age of 10”

He signed at the Culinary institute of Marseille in 1989 and qualified in 1996 with a degree in Culinary arts, having learned his skills at The Château de la Pioline in Aix-en-Provence.

That same year, Romain joined his brother in Oxford, and opened The Soundbite Café, an avant-garde vegetarian and vegan coffee-shop that provided the Oxford music scene with incredible brunches and creative menus.

The diversity of the independent restaurant scene in Oxford was perfect to fine tune his craft and it is in the new millenium that he decides to go alone as a private chef. A serious advocate of the Slow Food movement, Romain is sent to Turin to represent the UK and on his return develops a unique concept of catering: sourcing from organic and ethical farmers to provide catering on a small to medium scale.

Romain has cooked for many foodies clients that have become friends. He has cooked in unique sites such as the Chateau de Versailles, Musee de Montmartre, Chateau de Courances, The Wilderness park and many private client manors and amazing venues.

“the focus is always on food, sourcing of food working hand in hand with my passionate suppliers and making the event real, with a focus on relaxed yet stylish dinner”
